If you use any form of search engine marketing for your website, you know the importance of targeting to the right audience by advertising for relevant keywords and providing the most relevant landing pages. To accomplish high quality scores in AdWords or other SEM networks for your keywords / landing pages, your pages need to be extremely relevant to the selected keywords. In reality, pointing a ton of keywords to your site’s homepage is not optimal for conversions — but organizing your list of keywords based on themes so you can redirect the ads to the most relevant page is also not an easy task.
AdWords did recently implement a BETA Ad Grouper which allows you to group lists of keywords into several categories (or ad groups), but this does not work with your own list of keywords. Rather, AdWords only groups the related keywords it suggests from its library of extensive keyword data. The problem with this is that it mostly recommends the highest searched keywords which in most cases have ridiculously high CPC rates which beginning marketers definitely cannot afford (this does mostly depend on your niche however). To combat this issue, we must target long tail keywords that have much lower search volume but insignificant CPC rates making it affordable to the average marketer.
Long tail keywords are not only low in cost, they are also extremely targeted and thus will usually result in higher conversion rates. However, after researching through various resources, you’ll be left with thousands and thousands of long tail keywords that you’ll have to manually filter and divide into themes so you can select the most appropriate landing page for each set of keywords. AdWords editor (free desktop based application) also offers a Keyword Grouper but it has several drawbacks. The program does not offer any advanced options and merely groups keywords based on one word similarities leaving you with as many sets as keywords in most cases.

This is where Keyword Grouper comes in. Keyword Grouper is a light weight application that helps you sort your list of keywords into themes based off which you can create extremely successful ad groups in AdWords or any other SEM network. Unlike any other application of its kind, Keyword Grouper offers extensive options to ensure you’re satisfied with the end results of your created themes.
You can group by 1-5 word matches, remove duplicates and short keywords, merge singular and plural keywords and even filter your lists directly from within the application to remove any words you may not want. Keyword Grouper can help you create extremely targeted (not to mention clean) keyword lists that can be used in any SEM campaign to better target your audience and overall increase conversions.
There doesn’t seem to be any competitors to Keyword Grouper at the moment — perhaps because people don’t understand the power of such an application. In any case, Keyword Grouper can help you greatly improve your SEM campaigns, ultimately increasing your ROI and helping you grow your business. Would I recommend Keyword Grouper? After extensive testing of the application and optimizing my own campaigns based on the accurate themes recommended by the software, I am actually starting to see some conversions from my ad campaigns — and for only $29.99 (lifetime license), it’s probably one of the best investments you’ll make in your SEM career.
