Well, we’ve decided to change the overall niche of Future Pocket. Instead of hand-picked tech news, Future Pocket will now be solely posting about business opportunities and online money making schemes. We will also be implementing a freelance marketplace where users can post work they’d be willing to do for money and find potential clients — all at Future Pocket. We will also be creating a new video series to be implemented with the posts to make it even easier for you to follow the tutorials — in case you don’t like to read.

The changes will take some time to implement so look forward to these changes in the next few weeks. The rest of the articles unrelated to the new niche of the website will remain active in a separate archived category for those individuals still interested in reading some of the old content. So, if you’re interested in making money online or just looking for business opportunities, Future Pocket is the place for you.

We all know how early disease detection drastically improves the chance of survival — especially if that disease is cancer. In a new approach to this problem, researchers from MIT have engineered a series of ultra-microscopic particles that bind to disease-specific types of microRNA — a genetic material which affects gene expression in the nucleus. In cancer cells however, the microRNA has somehow malfunctioned which leads to rapid and unregulated cell growth that can ultimately form tumors.

“There are many challenges to detecting microRNA. There’s not an accepted gold standard,” says MIT team leader and professor of chemical engineering Patrick Doyle. “Everybody has their own favorite one.”

“Detecting microRNA from a blood sample would be much more efficient,” Doyle says. Not to mention faster, and with cancer, time is of the essence.

The new technology makes use of microscopic hydrogel particles around 200 micrometers in length — hydrogels are cross-linked, water-absorbing polymers that are attracted to nucleic acids (the building blocks of RNA and DNA). This new hydrogel technique can sense as few as 10,000 strands of specific microRNA and thus yields more reliable results than other currently available procedures which utilize fluorescent probes as labels. Looks promising, lets see how its implemented in the near future (hopefully).

There have been a lot of rumors going around about Amazon releasing its very own tablet but now it seems those rumors have been confirmed. TechCrunch has apparently gotten some time with Amazon’s forthcoming slate and is reporting that it has a 7-inch, backlit color capacitive screen. Word going around the web says that the hardware is ready and Amazon is just making the last few software tweaks before it goes on sale this November.

The tablet is running a heavily skinned version of Android and it apparently has a Cover Flow-esque UI — and is obviously deeply integrated with all of Amazon’s services (Cloud Player, Instant Video Player, Appstore, and of course the Kindle app). The best part about this is that it will reportedly cost a mere $250 — not worthy to compete with the TouchPad but definitely a lower price margin.

If you thought the Earth had a plenty supply of the rare diamond rock, you’ve yet to the immensely large diamond planet, J1719-1438. Scientists at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne recently spotted this celestial body that’s so dense, it’s believed to be crystalline carbon — in other words, a ginormous diamond comparable in size to Jupiter. Astrophysicists like Mark Kuchner have theorized (since the ’60s) that carbon-heavy stars can burn out, crystallize and form diamonds under the right pressure.

A white dwarf star spotted in 1992, BPM 37093, had cooled and crystallized over a 12 year period to support this idea — copping the nickname “Lucky” after the Beatles jam. Unfortunately, although astronomers in Australia, Britain and Hawaii have all identified the newly spotted precious planet J1719-1438, they are still unsure if the crystallized carbon rock will be sparkly mountains up close — sorry ladies.

We’ve seen the Droid Bionic featured in countless blurry photos and a few leaked ads — but there’s been no news thus far as to the release date of the phone. It looks like however that Motorola is finally ready to take another small step toward the release, with what appears to be an official Bionic Twitter account — indicating a September 8th release date — while a product page with some new shots of the device is now also live. Unfortunately, the page is still lacking in-depth specs, but it does feature a handful of photos, so check those out until the specs are available at the source below.

In late 2008 filmmaker Rob Space announced his plan to put a video camera in his skull to replace an eye he lost in an unfortunate accident. However, instead of connecting the camera to his brain (if possible), Spence sought to become a “lifecaster,” recording the feed on an external device. Well, his bionic eye is finally up and running and he’s even partnered with company Square Enix to create a documentary about state-of-the-art prosthetics and cybernetics.

The short film (which can be seen below), is to celebrate the launch of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. But, this isn’t just some commercial for a game, it’s an in-depth exploration of cutting edge leg, arm, and eye replacement technology. Check the video out below — but be warned, there are a few images that those with a weak stomach may not be able to bear.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been this long since Link has been saving Hyrule and kidnap-prone Zelda. To commemorate this video gaming milestone and its upcoming Skyward Sword installment, Nintendo is issuing a golden Wii Remote Plus. The release date has just been confirmed and the game will be hitting reatilers’ shelves on November 20th (with the golden Wiimote) for a bundle price of $69.99, or the standalone game for $49.99. Unfortunately, the controller will not be sold separately but all units of both offerings will come with a “The Legend of Zelda 2th Anniversary Symphony Concert music CD. Get ready Nintendo lovers, Link has yet another adventure to embark on and you’ll be the one working to save Zelda from whatever catastrophe strikes it.

Although it’s sad to see Steve Jobs retire, it’s interesting to see how the new CEO, Tim Cook will manage the spotlight. With less than 24 hours under his belt as the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook has sent a letter to the company staff, partly thanking his predecessor and predicting bright things for Apple’s future. I am looking forward to the amazing opportunity of serving as CEO of the most innovative company in the world. Joining Apple was the best decision I’ve ever made and it’s been the privilege of a lifetime to work for Apple and Steve for over 13 years. I share Steve’s optimism for Apple’s bright future.

Steve has been an incredible leader and mentor to me, as well as to the entire executive team and our amazing employees. We are really looking forward to Steve’s ongoing guidance and inspiration as our Chairman.

I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change. I cherish and celebrate Apple’s unique principles and values.
